They said to save the best for last, so let’s start with something a bit more middle-of-the-road. Amazon mTurk is technically a microtask site, which isn’t a data entry job in the strictest sense, but it does have data entry tasks available, as well as transcription.

This is something with a lower pay grade but also a lower commitment barrier– feel free to get involved with this if you want to decide your level of participation.

Another microtask site, Clickworker is similar to mTurk in a lot of ways.

There are a few primary differences, the first being that it is based out of Germany and offers many tasks in German.

The second is that it pays to PayPal, as opposed to mTurk which pays to Amazon Payments.

15. Megatypers / Micro Tasks


Megatypers is a website that pays in return for doing captcha codes.

Like all micro-task sites, it has low rates, but highly flexible hours.

The going rate is approximately .45 cents per 1000 captchas entered, so it is best if you have some experience in doing micro tasks so you can make the most of your time.

Lionbridge is a lot like Clickworker, being a micro task site that pays to PayPal and is of a smaller size than mTurk.

Lionbridge is US-based, so it’s not as good for those German speaking readers who would be enticed by Clickworker.

Lionbridge is also aligned with the UHRS network, and will not accept applicants who are already registered with UHRS through Clickworker (users report that they are pretty stringent about this.)
