Look just follow these steps on How to prepare for nptel exam in one day 2022

  • Go through lectures as soon as possible and prepare your own notes
  • After you have completed the lecture part just prepare a very short summary of whole course
  • Try to complete your assignments on your own or at least afterwards understand questions in it. Make sure you can solve those type of questions.
  • If you have done all the above tasks successfully then go through the questions of reference books advised in the course.
  • It is trivial to pass nptel exam but to score high it takes a bit time and efforts.

(I have complete 8 of them and never gave much time to any one of it, lowest marks that i got is 64% and highest is 84% without putting much efforts into it but remember “key to good score is just being able to solve questions in assignment”.

Moreover if you have only completed half of the course you still have the hope to at least pass it cause its simple.)

Practice assignments, almost 60% questions are similar types in main exam. Watch videos, read various books and practice various types of questions to get a very good score.

They want to check your concepts and problem solving approach, so questions are not generally straight forward. In the paper there are like 20% easy questions, 50% moderate questions and 30% though questions.

Passing the exam is quite easy (assignments + main exam >= 40%) if you know the basics.

If you have done all the assignments properly and you have decent knowledge then getting >= 60% will not be though job for you.

But you have to have very good knowledge and understanding to get above 90%.

All the best and thanks for reading.

I myself have appeared in 3 NPTEL examinations.. & I can surely gauge a pattern for you to prepare for the exam a night before efectively..

It’s quite simple..

As you are appearing for the exam, that means you have already paid the fee..which in turn means you must have seen lecture videos and done multiple assignments by yourself..

according to my experience more than 50% of the questions are just copied from assignments with some change in values..

and rest is based on the concepts of assignment + some concept of videos.. that means doing the assignments yourself and revising again again the night before..will render you almost 70% of the marks ..rest 30% is based on how deeply you understood the topics.. let’s first secure the 70%..

So, all you need to do is to first of all go through the assignment questions which you attempted yourself.. try them again .. now see the questions which you attempted but got wrong answer these are your gems.. try them again and see the solution provided by the course..

next go through rest of the questions in the assignment..

again revise all of’em..

doing this will help you prepare for 70% of the marks..

now as you’ve done almost 60–80 questions on the topic.. you must have some grip over the subject that means you can tackle 15% of the rest of 30%..

congratulations you prepared for 85% of marks

now for rest of 15% is highly conceptual based… so try your luck for this in exam.. none gonna ask you out of syllabus…

the key to success is in the assignments!!!!!!!!!

First, let me tell you something. This answer is for that category of people who can’t give much commitment to the course and are looking only to pass for whatever reason .

I found myself in the same situation a few weeks back. My motive wasn’t really to learn things in the course. I just wanted to pass the course for credit transfer (I know it is not the way to use nptel). I had a pretty heavy semester as I was exploring other fields (non core) and couldn’t give sufficient time for this course.

For people in my situation, I wish to give an insight of what can be done. As you know assignments carry 25%, even if you don’t go through the lectures try to open the assignments during the weekend and just figure out relevant data in the notes or google it out. You won’t find direct answers but there is a huge pool of questions that are formula or definition based. If you do this on all assignments you can get a minimum of 15. I realized this pretty late and did only last few which gave me a weighted score of around 7 marks.

For the exam, get the assignments and their solutions(which will be put up after every assignment submission deadline) and try to figure the problem solving technique. If you know how to solve every question in all the assignments after checking out the solution, I bet that will be sufficient to pass the course. Moreover, during your final exam you will receive a sheet that contains all essential formulas to get through the test. Guess what, for my exam the sheet contained exactly those formulae that the question paper was based on. For questions I had no idea on, I had to just see which formula is fitting in.

I could only go through 8 of the 12 assignments and ended up with a weighted score of 42 on 75. Total score 49. That’s my story of how I passed an engineering course by spending around 10 hours (including last few assignment submissions). NOT EXAGGERATED.

PS: I don’t ,in any way, support this way of preparation for those who want to “learn”.

Side tip: Don’t forget to take a printout of your hall ticket the before day. If you are a mess like me, you would realize it at 2 am of the day of your exam. Adding on, I had to travel 42 km to exam hall, as expected 4 Uber drivers cancelled the ride and I didn’t panic. Figure out alternatives in case this happens to you the before day itself.
