In fact, I was a fresher last year and prepared for my placements. I cleared aptitude tests of all companies I sat for and got placed at Hexaware.

Generally, there are 3 sections in the aptitude of any good MNC like Hexaware. Those sections are following:

  1. Quantitative Aptitude
  2. Logical Reasoning
  3. Verbal Ability
  4. There might also be a test of programming abilities or essay writing in some cases.

How to Prepare for Aptitude Test for Software Companies? First of all, you need to assess what is your weakest and strongest area and work accordingly. Since I had good command of verbal ability, I worked more on quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning. I spent the most time on quantitative aptitude, then logical reasoning, and least on verbal ability.

So be very clear about your strength and weakness. This is the first part. Then what you have to do is refer to good books, websites, study, make notes and test yourself regularly.

The best you to test yourself is by practicing mocks with a set of friends and help each other in finding easier and faster ways of solving a problem. Timed mocks are very important in your preparation. Make really neat and clean notes that you can refer to as and when required.

In my personal experience, I used to find quantitative aptitude the easiest section followed by verbal ability and logical reasoning. One needs to prepare well for all the sections in order to pass the test as some companies will keep sectional cut-offs, so you need to prepare and clear all 3 sections in order to pass the assessment.

Every day you need to pick a topic go through the theory part first and then pick up questions related to that topic and start solving. The next day starts with a new topic. Weekends are meant for revisions. All the topics which you are preparing needs revision or else your whole preparation will become worthless. In this way, you can cover all topics of all the sections within a time span of 45 days.

You can go through YouTube videos explaining a particular topic or you can go through articles associated with that particular topic. I suggest preparing from YouTube and the channel I recommend is Career Ride. You can even prepare from the book, the book which I recommend is Quantitative Aptitude by Dr. R. S. Aggarwal.

Finally, I would only like to suggest that clearing the aptitude test is not a matter of luck. You need to work on it. You need to keep yourself motivated and daily try to cover at least 1 topic.
